ALBUM OF THE MONTH

KING CRIMSON "The Great Deceiver"

Album #75 is The Great Deceiver by King Crimson from 1992.

The Great Deceiver is an album of fabulous live recordings from 1973/74. It was originally released as a 4 CD box in 1992, but was reissued as two individual 2 CD sets by the end of 2007.

The reissue has new artwork but the music is all the same (thank God!)

The Radio Dupree staff thought that the 4 CD box had been out of print for years and was glad to hear the news of the re-release. But when checking out the Crimson site https://www.dgmlive.com/shop/ we realized that the ol' 4 CD box was still available! (along with the new edition).

Needless to say we ordered it as soon as possible.

So now it's finally time to play this tasty little sucker on Radio Dupree, one of the few radio stations where a product like The Great Deceiver fits perfectly!

The four discs include songs that wound up on the studio albums during those years, a whole bunch of cool "improvs" and a couple of surprises...One of the highlights is a song that never wound up on any of the regular albums: Doctor Diamond!

So enjoy the works of Robert Fripp, Bill Bruford, John Wetton and David Cross...their collective musical efforts!
