Album of the Month #74
The Tubes:
Wild In London (2005)
Wild in London was recorded live at London's Shepherd's Bush Empire in
December 2004.Yep, the group that started the carreer in the mid 1970's as a sort of bizarre rock theather act is still around (although some members have been replaced since the 70's).
So if you remember their 1978 live set What Do You Want From Live (that one recorded in London too, actually) you might want to find out how they sound almost 3 decades later.
One could say that The Tubes has turned into a "legacy band" playing mostly the old stuff live in concert. But I guess that is also what the audience want to hear.
This live CD includes 14 tracks. Both old and not-so-old songs.
By the way, the Shepherd's Bush CD kicks off in a sort of country & western style, but don't you worry about that. After the opening Overture, The Tubes goes into their 80's hit She's a Beauty, then a couple of songs that were written in the mid 70s...Don't Touch Me There and Malaguena Salarosa...well, all in all a great mix of songs.
