ALBUM OF THE MONTH

BOB DYLAN "Modern Times"

Album # 56 is Modern Times - Bob Dylan

There are artists that will never ever get the respect they deserve, no matter how good an album they make. And there are other artists that enjoy a free pass just because the critics have decided that it is their time.

And then there are artists that have reached a level where they can do pretty much whatever they like, and the reviews and sales can be awful ... but they survive to do another tour and another record.

Bob Dylan has been doing "his thing" for close to 50 years now. And while his most important years where the 60's, he's kept on touring and recording, making so called "comebacks" in the 70', 80's and 90's.

Modern Times is the third record in his current comeback. It started with Time Out Of Mind in 1997. He followed that with Love And Theft in 2001 and Modern Times in 2006.

And while the 65 year old voice of Bob Dylan might be an acquired taste there's no denying this is a great album. You can choose to decipher and discuss the meaning of the lyrics or just tap your foot to the tunes. Whatever takes your fancy.

Modern Times is suitably produced by Jack Frost who in fact is Bob Dylan himself.
