ALBUM OF THE MONTH

Frank Zappa "FZ:OZ"

#40: Album of the month is FZ:OZ, an entire Frank Zappa concert on two discs.
It was released on the Zappa family trust's label Vaulternative Records in 2002. It is a live recording from Australia, thus the album title that might confuse some listeners.

This Sydney, January 1976 show unvails several Zappa classics. But the highlights is the previously unreleased instrumental Canard Toujours and the song Kaiser Rolls. Canard being a prototype version of Let's Move To Cleveland of the 1984 tour. Kaiser Rolls is a more ordinary rock song, also available as a studio rehearsal on this disc.

Other highlights are a couple of songs from We're Only In It For The Money. This version of Take Your Clothes Off When You Dance is probably the first example of Zappa playing reggae.

This album package doesn't offer much of artwork. (Which is the case for the 2 CD set The Helsinki Concert as well). Must be SOME good stage pics around, huh?
