COVER OF THE WEEK

THE TUBES "Now"

Cover of the week # 32 is the american band The Tubes 3rd album Now released in 1977.

The front cover picture is painted by the drummer Prairie Prince and shows almost cubistic cartoon like faces of all band members. It's very good! Every member is easily identified. The inner sleeve of the original vinyl features photos of all members in the recording studio, backstage or elsewhere. Each member has written some words of wisdom to go along with their portrait.

The Tubes Now was recorded when the group was in its first theatrical rocking/mocking stages. That changed a couple of years later when the group changed musical direction into a more slick west coast adult orientated rock style.
Not to say that this was a bad way to go, but if you wanna try The Tubes of the 80's check out Outside Inside first, which is one of their best albums ever. However, the album Now features punk parody You're No Fun, a cry over smoking habits (Smoke - La Vie En Fumér) and even a Captain Beefheart cover (!!)...My Head Is My Only House Unless it Rains...and more. You'll hear'em on RadioDupree!
