COVER OF THE WEEK |
# 18 is Weasels Ripped My Flesh by Frank Zappa & The Mothers Of Invention. This one was released in August 1970, a year after Zappa disbanded his group The Mothers Of Invention. But there were lots of unreleased material laying around so Zappa released two Mothers albums although the group had just been disbanded, Burnt Weeny Sandwich and Weasels Ripped My Flesh. Both are highly recommended. The bizarre Weasels cover painting by artist Neon Park is a classic. The story goes like this: Zappa had seen some of Neon Parks work and asked him to do the cover art for the next Mothers album. Zappa had the idea that Park should use the cover art from an issue of the mens magazine Mans Life.
So Frank showed Neon Park the magazine and said, `What can you do that's worse than this?" And for you who recognize the classic cover painting but havent heard the music thats on the album, there is always RadioDupree. S.H
