COVER OF THE WEEK

# 14 is the album Attahk by french progressive group Magma.

The front cover is a painting of two ugly guys with sunglasses. The sunglasses are designed as safety pins which go through their noses.
A concrete tower is raising in the sky behind. The two men are Ourgon and Gorgo, two of the characters in the Magma legend.

Yes, Magma isn't your average customer and this cover tells a lot of what it's all about. Bizarre and futuristic. The back cover shows x-ray scans of the band members heads along with a mean photo of drummer/leader Christian Vander.

The fine print is partly written in Kobaia, the groups own language(!). Magma's music tells the story of the life on the fantasy planet Kobaïa. When exposed to this music you might first notice three things:

1) The strange language (which sometimes reminds of German)

2) The energic and virtuoso drumming by Mr. Vander

3) The repetitive format of the songs

We at RadioDupree feel it is our duty to play some selected stuff by this unknown musical treasure. Salut...or should we say "hhaï" instead?
